XProtean, NCR Partner for C-store POS Solution

MILPITAS, Calif. -July 04, 2008- XProtean joined NCR Corp.'s NCR RealPartner program as a reseller of NCR's point-of-sale (POS) workstations, which will pair NCR RealPOS hardware with XProtean's integrated retail management software solution, in an effort to optimize operations for small format retailers, the company stated.

"NCR's innovative, customizable POS platform is a perfect match with XProtean's software," Vikas Jain, executive vice president of marketing and business development for XProtean, said in a statement. "The result is a flexible, easy-to-use solution that gives retailers the tools they need to run and grow their business."

Bonfare Markets, a c-store and gas retailer based in northern California, uses both technologies to comply with local regulations.

"With XProtean and NCR, we have a system that keeps an automatic eye on inventory, prices and promotions," Bonfare Markets regional manager Danny Arcayena said in a statement. "That automatic eye also helps us comply with liquor laws. Some Bonfare Markets are open 24 hours a day, and by local law we can't sell alcohol after 2 a.m. Sometimes when employees are busy they don't notice the time, however, now that our system is automatic, our scanners won't register an alcohol purchase after hours."
